Do you own your website and domain?
Your domain name is your address on the internet, and it should be registered so that you can keep or move it. Before signing with any website company, ask who registers the domain, whose name it is in, and what happens if you leave.
Why it matters
Your domain is printed on your truck, cards and invoices. If a provider controls it and you leave, you may have to start over with a new address and lose the search history attached to the old one.
Questions to ask before you sign
Who is listed as the registrant of the domain? Can I transfer it, and is there a release fee? What does renewal cost each year? Do I keep my text and photos if I cancel? Is there a long contract or a setup fee?
How Site Building Bros handles it
If you already own a domain, it stays with your registrar. If we register a new one for you, the full terms, including transfers and renewal pricing, are written out on our service details page.
