What a local contractor website needs

A contractor website needs five things above everything else: what you do, where you do it, proof you have done it, how to reach you, and one obvious next step. Everything else is optional.

1. Services in plain words

List the jobs you actually take, using the words customers type. "Roof leak repair" beats "comprehensive roofing solutions." If you do not do something, leave it off so you do not get calls you will turn down.

2. Your service area

Name the towns, counties or neighborhoods you cover. Visitors want to know in seconds whether you come to them, and search engines use the same information to understand where you work.

3. Real proof

Photos of your own finished jobs, with the job type and town, do more than stock images. Only publish reviews, licenses and insurance details that are real and that you can confirm.

4. Contact that works on a phone

Most visitors arrive on a phone. A tap-to-call number and a short quote form near the top matter more than extra pages. Show your real hours; do not promise 24/7 service unless you offer it.

5. One clear next step

Pick the action you want most, such as calling or requesting an estimate, and repeat it on every page. Online booking and payments are useful for some businesses but are not required.
